Be Apart of Something Special
Baptism declares to the world you’ve trusted Jesus, joined God’s family, and made a commitment to follow Jesus, heart and soul. It’s pretty special! If you have never been baptized after salvation, baptism is your first step.
We recognize the ordinances of water baptism as a scriptural means of testimony for the church in this age
(Matthew 28:19, 20; Acts 2:41, 42; 18:8)
We believe baptism is for believers that desire to symbolically demonstrate to the world that they are saved
(Mark 1:9, Acts 8:38-39)
We baptize believers by full immersion to follow the example set by Jesus and his early disciples in Scripture
(1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
We believe baptism is something we can do to follow Christ’s example and be obedient to Him. It is an outward representation of what God has done in changing our hearts when we decide to follow Jesus.
We hold to a literal interpretation of baptism (meaning to dip under water, to immerse). This is also consistent with the model given each time we see a baptism in the New Testament. It also symbolizes Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.
At BBC, we do not baptize infants- this is because we believe that only those who have made the decision to trust Christ as their personal Savior should be baptized. Baptism in itself does not save or “seal” us, but is a public testimony of Christ’s work in our hearts. If you were baptized as an infant, we would encourage you to prayerfully consider being baptized again as a true believer in Christ.
We would love to talk to you about this! We schedule baptism services as often as there is a need. To talk to someone about baptism, you can contact our church office, the pastor, or any one of our elders directly.
