Leaders

Jake Losen

Jake started attending Bethany his first Sunday on earth. He’s gone through the youth ministry here at Bethany involved in leading music as a student and after high school. He started as a full time youth leader in 2010. His favorite activity in youth group comes from when he was a student. “The mission trip to the Atlanta Dream Center was an awesome experience with a lot of great memories. Jake loves seeing students (and leaders) respond to the Lord in worship through song. One of Jake’s favorite Bible characters, besides Jesus, is Paul. “Paul is a great example of a radically changed life through a relationship with Jesus.

Amy Murray

Amy is a Bethany lifer. She has been attending Bethany since birth except when her parents went to Nigeria as missionaries. Amy began working with the youth group during the summers when she was in college and full time since she graduated from Wheaton College. Some of Amy’s favorite memories in youth group come from mission trips and summer trips to Gull Lake. Amy loves spending time, laughing and getting to know students. Amy’s life verse is Daniel 3:18 “I want this to be my life’s theme. I know that God can do anything, in my life, but even if He doesn’t do what I want, I want to worship Him completely.”

David Murray

Besides his years on the mission field with his family and in college David has attended Bethany his entire life. David has been a youth leader since the summer of 2001. David’s favorite youth group activities are the camps and retreats. He loves the opportunity to live life together every moment of the day. David loves seeing students make their walks with Christ personal. One of David’s favorite Bible characters is King David. “My goal in life is that when others think of me, they can say that I am a “man after God’s own heart. David’s life reminds me that God loves us in spite of our faults and if we are willing to confess and repent, God will continue to use us.”

Diane Murray

Diane first visited Bethany in 2003, but didn’t call Bethany her church home until 2005. Diane joined the volunteer staff in the youth group in 2008. For Diane youth ministry is about building relationships, so her favorite activity is spending time with students in the small group setting, sharing testimonies, praying and getting into “real” conversations. One of Diane’s favorite portions of scripture comes from the life of Peter. “Jesus redeems Peter’s story; for each of his three denials, Peter is given the chance to confess the depths of his love instead. Despite his biggest faults and failures, still God chooses to use Peter for His glory, and to build His church.”

Sarah Neumann

Sarah has been attending Bethany for 10 years and has been a youth leaders since 2010. One of Sarah’s favorite events in the youth group was when she attended Acquire the Fire. She was challenged to live a life that glorifies God and ultimately it inspired her to attend their internship/college program in Texas for 1 year. As a youth leaders Sarah loves being a part of an environment that encourages students to grow spiritually. One of Sarah’s favorite Bible characters is Stephen. “his boldness in the face of death reminds me that God can give me the strength and the boldness to live for Christ in the face of possible mockery and rejection.”

Aaron Walters

Aaron came to Bethany in November of 2011 as the Director of Youth and Adult Ministries. Aaron loves playing dodgeball, kickball and well pretty much any game that has a ball or at least a winner and a loser. Aaron’s favorite activity in youth group is any mission trip. He loves being able to minister alongside students and serve God on a team with students. Aaron is passionate about students becoming life-long Disciples of Christ. Aaron’s favorite verse is Isaiah 6:8 “And then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: “whom shall I send and who will go for us?” Then I said, Here am I! Send me.” God is calling us all to an amazing mission, how will you respond to God’s call?

Amy Walters

Amy came to Bethany with Aaron in November of 2011. Amy has been working with students in youth ministry for the last 8 years. Amy loves drama so naturally her favorite youth activity was the Murder Mystery Dinner. Amy loves seeing God at work in students’ lives. Students can do amazing things for God and Amy loves being able to watch students live that adventure. Amy’s favorite Bible character is Gomer; “because she reveals God’s unrelenting love to us. Even when we run away or mess up, God loves us and buys us back”.
